This carefully designed 7-night tour brings together Italy’s most celebrated cities through a more sustainable way of travel. Based in the heart of Verona, we travel by train to Venice, Milan and Bologna, exploring their iconic landmarks and distinctive atmosphere. Spring offers the best conditions for sightseeing, with milder temperatures and fewer crowds than the summer months. With guided sightseeing included and a Dedicated Tour Manager accompanying the group throughout, every detail is thoughtfully arranged, allowing you to enjoy Italy’s classic cities with ease and confidence.
Upon arrival at Verona Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your Dedicated Tour Manager, who will accompany the group throughout the holiday. A private coach transfer then brings you directly to your centrally located hotel in the heart of Verona.
After check-in, the remainder of the day is free to settle in and begin enjoying the city at your own pace. Perhaps take a gentle stroll through Verona’s historic streets, enjoy a coffee in one of its elegant piazzas, or simply relax after your journey. This first evening offers a wonderful introduction to the atmosphere of one of Italy’s most romantic and historic cities.
This morning, we enjoy a guided walking tour of Verona, introducing you to the city’s rich history, elegant architecture and timeless atmosphere. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, we explore Verona’s beautifully preserved historic centre, including the impressive Roman Arena, the bustling Piazza delle Erbe and the charming streets that give the city its romantic character.
We also pass Juliet’s famous balcony, one of Verona’s most iconic sights, before continuing through the old town, where layers of Roman, medieval and Renaissance history come together seamlessly.
The afternoon is free to enjoy Verona at your own pace. You may wish to relax in a café, visit one of the city’s museums, enjoy some shopping, or simply wander along the Adige River and soak up the atmosphere. Your Tour Manager will be on hand with suggestions to help you make the most of your time.
After breakfast, we walk to Verona Porta Nuova station to begin our first rail journey of the holiday. Travelling by high-speed train, we arrive in Bologna in comfort and ease, enjoying a greener and efficient way to move between Italy’s great cities.
On arrival, we meet our local guide and set off on a guided walking tour of Bologna’s historic centre. Known for its medieval character and lively atmosphere, the city is famous for its extensive covered porticoes, elegant piazzas and deep cultural traditions. Highlights include Piazza Maggiore, the impressive Basilica of San Petronio and the surrounding historic streets that give Bologna its distinctive charm.
Following the guided visit, there is free time to enjoy Bologna at your leisure. You may wish to relax over lunch in one of the city’s traditional trattorias, browse local shops, or simply soak up the vibrant atmosphere beneath the famous arcades. In the late afternoon, we return by train to Verona, where the evening is free to enjoy as you wish.
Today is yours to enjoy at leisure. You may choose to spend the day in Verona, taking time to explore the city more deeply, visit museums, enjoy a relaxed lunch in a piazza, or simply wander the historic streets at your own pace.
Alternatively, for those wishing to discover another of Northern Italy’s characterful towns, there is the option to take a train journey to Bergamo. Known for its beautifully preserved upper town, Bergamo Alta, this charming destination offers cobbled streets, historic walls and wonderful views across the surrounding countryside. Your Tour Manager will be happy to provide guidance and assistance for those who choose this independent excursion.
Whichever option you choose, the day offers flexibility and freedom, allowing you to enjoy Italy in a way that suits you best.
After breakfast, we make our way to Verona Porta Nuova station to board the train to Milan. Travelling by high-speed rail allows us to reach Italy’s dynamic fashion and business capital comfortably and efficiently, while enjoying a more sustainable way to travel.
On arrival, we meet our local guide for a guided walking tour of Milan’s historic centre. Highlights include the magnificent Duomo, one of Europe’s largest and most striking cathedrals, as well as the elegant surrounding streets and squares that reflect Milan’s refined style and cultural importance.
Following the guided visit, there is free time to enjoy Milan at your leisure. You may wish to relax over lunch, browse the city’s renowned shops, or simply take in the atmosphere of this cosmopolitan city before returning by train to Verona in the late afternoon.
Today is free for you to enjoy as you wish. You may choose to spend the day in Verona, revisiting favourite spots, enjoying a leisurely lunch, or exploring areas of the city you may not yet have discovered.
Alternatively, there is the option to take a train journey to the historic city of Padua. Easily reached by rail, Padua is renowned for its elegant squares, historic university and the magnificent Basilica of Saint Anthony. The city’s flat and walkable centre makes it a pleasure to explore, with inviting cafés and a relaxed atmosphere.

After breakfast, we travel by train from Verona to Venice, arriving directly into the heart of this extraordinary city. Stepping out at Santa Lucia station, Venice immediately reveals its unique character, with canals, bridges and historic palazzi unfolding before you.
We meet our local guide for a guided walking tour, introducing you to Venice’s most celebrated sights. Highlights include St Mark’s Square and the exterior of St Mark’s Basilica, as well as a walk through the atmospheric streets and quieter corners that reveal the city’s rich history and timeless charm.
Following the guided visit, there is free time to enjoy Venice at your own pace. You may wish to relax over lunch beside a canal, explore artisan shops, or simply wander and absorb the unforgettable atmosphere. In the late afternoon, we return by train to Verona, bringing our exploration of Northern Italy’s great cities to a memorable close.
This morning, we bid farewell to Verona and Northern Italy as we transfer by private coach to Verona Airport for our return flight. With wonderful memories of Italy’s iconic cities, elegant rail journeys and rich cultural experiences, you return home feeling enriched, inspired and refreshed.
