Owing to the fact that it is smack bang in the middle of mountain terrain, Mayrhofen understandably offers visitors a wealth of outdoor adventuring to take part in. There are a huge range of walking and hiking trails available for guests to explore. Whether young or old, sporty or leisurely, relaxed or extreme, walking is suitable for everyone and the mountains and valleys that surround Mayrhofen and Hippach offer unlimited opportunities with varying distances and levels of difficulty.

Penken Mountain, with its huge network of hiking trails and bike routes suitable for young and old, is the place to be for thrill seekers. If you’re up for some action, visit the Funsportstation at the Penken Reservoir. There, visitors can roll on water without getting wet inside the Funballz -huge, transparent, inflatable plastic balls- for loads of fun! The Funsportstation also has mountain scooters ready for guests to use in order to explore Action Mountain on three different routes.

Cyclists can look forward to exploring the 800 km cycle trail network suitable for all levels of ability in Zillertal Valley. Pleasant roads and romantic trails lead into the dreamy valleys, along the edge of hidden lakes and bubbling streams, where you will always discover something new. The cycle trails are well signposted and lead you through the magnificent landscape where the Alps seem almost close enough to touch.

The Erlebnisbad Outdoor Leisure Pool in Zillertal guarantees fun for water babies of all ages. From serious swimmers to serious sunbathers, there is something for everyone here. Seasoned swimmers can complete a few lengths of the 25m pool, while the little ones can make a splash in the kid’s pool where there is also a 45m long slide. The large sunbathing lawn has a play and sports area, slides, swings, climbing frames, beach volleyball court and trampoline, to name but a few.

If you fancy taking an even more relaxed approach, Mayrhofen has plenty to help while away the days simply enjoying the scenery, atmosphere and some delicious food or drink. There are plenty of cafés, bars and craft shops in the town to peruse. There are also a number of world class spas here, so if relaxing and indulging is on the cards you will be very much covered here.
