Until the state of Nevada legalised gambling in 1931, Las Vegas was a simple frontier town. Now more commonly known as Sin City, it's host to 39 million visitors a year, who flock to visit some of the biggest casinos, hotels and entertainment venues in the world.

Vegas is the sort of place where the spectacular becomes routine. In the mega casinos you can try your luck or stand back and watch as slot machines whirl, roulette wheels turn, dice roll, cards dealt and inscrutable poker players face each other across green beige tables - it may be the stuff of a thousand movies, but remember to pinch yourself to remind yourself it's real! And as the saying goes, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."

Away from the casinos, Las Vegas is equally famous for the non-stop whirlwind of headline entertainment and dazzling nightlife that dominates the Strip. You can shop till you drop, or soak up the desert sunshine with club in hand at one of the resort's magnificent golf courses, stroll the Strip beneath a neon-lit sky, or savour a fine meal at an award-winning restaurant. For all its astonishing energy, perhaps the most impressive attraction in the region is one provided by nature rather than man - in the form of the amazing Grand Canyon, just a short helicopter ride away and well worth the ticket price for this once-in-a-lifetime chance to get a close-up view of this wonder of the world.

Vegas Highlights

Viva Las Vegas

Elvis said it all really in his famous hit in which he paid tribute to the glitz, glamour and heady atmosphere of this amazing desert resort that has elevated the gambling industry to a high art. For a change of pace from the Strip, friendly and relaxed games of chance can be found in the resort's lesser-known entertainment districts, Downtown and the Boulder Strip.

Catch A Show

Lose yourself in the sprawling MGM Grand, float in a gondola at the Venetian or catch the latest big name artist performing in town. Cirque du Soleil's Beatles-themed LOVE show provides an evening of song at the Mirage.

Relax And Unwind

Need a break from the pulsating pace of the Strip? Then bask by your pool or head to Wynn's for a luxurious spa treatment. Or how about a relaxing cocktail as the sun goes down, followed by a gourmet meal at one of the resort's many fine restaurants.

Because of its year-round popularity, Las Vegas is that rarest phenomenon - a resort without an off-season for tourism. Weather is pleasant, warm and ideal for swimming, sunbathing or walking the strip in spring and autumn. In summer the heat soars - a time to seek sanctuary in the nearest air-conditioned shop, stage or casino. Topflight tip: midweek hotel prices are more competitive!!
