At the airport you will be met by Topflight’s Resort Manager and transferred by coach to the beautiful spa town of Montecatini Terme, which lies only a 50 minute drive away. Here, you will stay for the next 7 nights at the 4 star Grand Hotel Croce di Malta on a bed and breakfast basis. On your arrival, you will enjoy a delcious welcome dinner at the hotel's excellent restaurant.
Today, explore the stunning spa surrounds in Montecatini Terme, famous for its thermal springs, at your own pace. Explore the town, which centres around a lush park, and boasts fantastic shops as well chic bars and restaurants. A must-do is a trip to the most famous spa in town, the Tettuccio Terme, built in 1779 and located less than a five minute walk from your hotel.
After breakfast, you will be collected from you hotel and brought, by coach, to the small, walled village of San Gimignano, also called the City of 1000 Towers. Located halfway between Florence and Siena, this medieval marvel is famous for its fascinating architecture and imposing towers. At the height of San Gimignano glory, some 72 towers were built by the wealthy families of the village as symbols of their wealth and power. Today, only 14 towers remain, but the city stills maintains a strong historical atmosphere and was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990.
This afternoon, you will enjoy a spot of wine tasting in an authentic Tuscan farmhouse, after which you’ll make your way to the medieval masterpiece that is Siena. You will get to explore Siena's spectacular surrounds with the help of a local guide, and enjoy a little free time explore it at your own leisure. Make sure to visit its spectacular cathedral, built in the 1200s. Wander the Piazza del Campo, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to a dramatic Gothic city hall. See the impressive Gaia Fountain, and visit the Chapel of the Virgin, before hopping on your coach back to the hotel.
Today you have the day to spend as you please. We suggest that you take the train to Pistoia, one of Tuscany's hidden gems which really deserves to be visited. Take some time out here to enjoy an aperitif perhaps, on the picturesque Piazza Della Sala.
After breakfast, hop on your coach for a full day excursion to Lucca and Pisa. Lucca lies 30 kilometres from Montecatini and is known for its well-preserved Renaissance walls, which encircle its historic city centre. Today, you will discover this impressive city, with the help of a Lucca tour guide. Enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants, which line its dreamy piazzas and cobbled streets before your next stop, Pisa.
Here, you'll have time to take in this famous city at your own pace, before heading back to your hotel by coach. The Leaning Tower is just one of many other amazing sights to see. Visit the beautiful cathedral, and Gothic church, which dates to the early 13th century. For those seeking some retail therapy, a trip down Borgo Stretto, the main shopping street is a must do!
Today you have a day to spend as you wish. You might like to take the cable car up to the medieval part of town, Montecattini Alto, which wows visitors with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. (payable locally)
After breakfast today, your tour guide will meet you at the hotel and walk you the short distance to the train station where you will travel to Florence, which lies approximately an hour away. The birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence is a city renowned for its history, iconic architecture and exquisite art, and today you will discover it with the help of a local guide. Feast your eyes upon Michelangelo's David. Visit the impressive Piazza del Duomo, home to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, the symbol of the city. Experience the beautiful Piazza della Signoria, the historic political hub of the city. Walk across the Arno River on the famous medieval bridge Ponte Vecchio. Take some time out from all that sightseeing with a delicious lunch in one of the city's wealth of fantastic restaurants, after which you can explore the city at your own pace. After what surely will be a delightful day in Florence, you will return to Montecatini by train.
Hop on your coach transfer back to Pisa airport to board your plane home to Dublin.
