In the Lombardy region of the Alps in northern Italy, Bormio is a staggeringly beautiful area with a long history. Showcasing wonderful medieval buildings as well as the now famous thermal baths, it is as interesting as it is beautiful.

Bormio is a popular ski area in the winter time, located at 1225m and is at the centre of the upper Valtellina Valley. It boasts proximity to some of Italy’s highest ski runs. But in the summer months, greenery emerges, rivers and streams begin to flow and the snow leaves its mark on the slopes of the breathtakingly beautiful Stelvio Pass. It is the best time to hike in the Stelvio National Park and experience colour, nature, tranquility and great hillwalking conditions.

The town itself has lots of modern facilities in amongst its historical streets and buildings, with a wide choice of good restaurants, bars and gelaterias to choose from. With excellent Pizzarias as well as a great Michelin star restaurant, there is something to suit every taste. A walk in the historical center, a visit to the wine cellars and to the most beautiful courtyards in town should definitely be on the cards. In the summer there are many concerts, art exhibitions and various workshops to keep you entertained.

Due to its thermal baths at Bagni Vecchi, Bagni Nuovi and Terme di Bormio, Bormio has long been a tourist attraction. Visitors travel to enjoy the naturally warm baths in the idyllic mountainous scenery. The perfect antidote to those weary muscles after a day of hiking and exploring the beauty of the Stelvio National Park.
