Your Holiday Itinerary

Day1Fly to Catania

Fly from Dublin to Catania airport where you will be met by Topflight’s representative. You will be transferred to your 4 star hotel in Giardini Naxos, located 45 minutes away.

Day2Mount Etna

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel by coach and brought to Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano. You will enjoy a half day’s excursion at this natural wonder with the help of an English speaking guide. You will visit the Silvestri Craters, two side-by-side, inactive craters formed as a result of Mount Etna's eruption in 1892. Hike around their perimeters and marvel at their rare beauty. Those who wish to explore further can take the optional ascent, payable locally, to the upper craters, via cable car and then by jeep. Experience this other worldly terrain, with its black lava sand and volcanic gravel, as well as unparalleled views of the surrounding area, all in the company of a local guide. You will return later this afternoon to your hotel on the coach.

Day3 A day in Giardini Naxos at your Leisure

Explore the surroundings of Giardini Naxos, a charming corner of Sicily that has grown from a sleepy fishing village to a thriving seaside resort. You'll find lots of shops and boutiques in the old town, while the prom is lined with bars that come alive at night. The harbour is the place to head to for great cafés and seafood restaurants, and there are also lovely pizzerias and trattorias throughout the town.

Day4Syracuse & Ortygia Island

This morning, you will be collected from your hotel by coach and taken to Syracuse, described by Cicero as "the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all". Located in the south of Taormina and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the city of Syracuse is renowned for its rich ancient Greek history, and architecture. Upon arrival, you will be met your local guide who will bring you through this archaeological wonder and show you its famous sights, dating back as far as the fifth century B.C.. Architectural and archaeological treasures await at every turn as the entire area is teeming with history. Visit the grand Greek Theatre, the Rocky Necropolis of Pantalica and stand aghast at the genius of this ancient people. Next stop, Ortygia Island. This small island is the historical centre of the city of Syracuse and is connected to the mainland by three bridges. Explore its beautiful harbour, and take this opportunity to enjoy an optional lunch at one of the fabulous local restaurants. Wander its beautiful, historic centre, home to the Temple of Apollo, the fountain of Arethusa, and its marvellous baroque church. Afterwards, you will be collected by coach and return to your hotel.

Day5At your leisure

Another day to kick back and relax at your own pace! Why not take advantage of your 4 star hotel. Ideal for those of you who love to be in the heart of the action, Hotel Sabbie d'Oro is a charming and popular spot offering friendly service, a welcoming atmosphere and wonderful sea views. We suggest heading down to the hotel's private beach, which lies steps away.

Day6Catania

This morning, you will be collected from your hotel and brought, by coach, to Catania, Sicily's second largest city. Here, you will enjoy a guided tour, where you'll visit its famous sights, which include the main square, Piazza Duomo, a UNESCO world heritage site. In the centre of the square stands the symbol of the city, an elephant fountain – don't forget to bring your camera as it's a great photo opportunity. You will have free time to enjoy some lunch in Catania and explore the city at your own leisure. A visit to the lively fish market is a must! You will be brought back to your hotel at the end of the day by coach.
