Your Holiday Itinerary

Day1Arrive to Bari

You will fly to Bari airport this evening, where you will be met by Topflight’s Resort Manager and transferred by air-conditioned coach to the 4 star Hotel Palazzo Virgilio, located approximately an hour and a half away. Enjoy a welcome drink upon arrival and make yourself at home. You will stay here for 7 nights on a bed & breakfast basis.

Situated in the lovely port town of Brindisi, the Palazzo Virgilio is a modern, family-run hotel, that boasts great service in a great location. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and the train station is within walking distance, should you wish to do some exploring yourself.

Day2Welcome Meeting

After enjoying a delicious breakfast in your hotel, you are invited to a welcome meeting with your Resort Manager at 10am, who will introduce you to Puglia, talk you through your programme for the week and also recommend things to do and see during your time at leisure in Brindisi and the surrounding areas.

You are then free to discover the area as you wish for the day. Brindisi's vibrant historic centre is home to fascinating archaeological artefacts, beautiful squares and monuments and fantastic authentic Italian places to eat and drink. It is also the perfect base from which to explore Puglia, with great connections to other nearby places of interest.

Day3Oil Tasting, Ostuni & Cisternino

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel by coach and brought to a gorgeous, traditional farmhouse known locally as a masseria. This experience embodies the Puglian spirit as you will get to sample some authentic Puglia olive oil, known throughout the world for its aroma and distinctive flavour. You really haven’t tasted proper olive oil until you’ve tried Puglian olive oil!

Afterwards, you will be brought on a guided visit of the awe-inspiring medieval town of Ostuni, also known as the ‘White City”. With its strong defensive walls and cascades of white-washed houses winding around the hillside, at the top of which proudly stands the magnificent Gothic cathedral. Spend some time wandering its beautiful streets and perhaps take a lunch break in one of its quaint pavement cafés.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a guided visit of the lovely town of Cisternino with its small yet utterly charming old town centre that has remained intact for centuries. Explore this elegant whitewashed town with its narrow, cobblestoned streets, historic churches and a simply beautiful little central piazza. You will be returned to your hotel by coach just in time to get ready for dinner and to spend the evening however you wish.

Day4At Your Leisure

Today you have a day to spend as you wish. We recommend you explore the area of Brindisi where there is plenty to discover. Awash with historic buildings and streets, we recommend you visit the impressive ‘Castello Rosso’ or ‘Red Church’, so called due to the rose tinted stoned used to build it and be sure to try some seafood during your time here as Brindisi will offer up some of the best you’ve tasted.

Day5Locorotondo, Alberobello & Lunch in a Masseria

Today, you will be picked up after breakfast and taken by air-conditioned coach for a guided tour of the beautiful Locorotondo, considered to be one of Puglia’s prettiest towns. It is perfect for a lazy stroll, simply soaking up its quaint and idyllic atmosphere and taking in its undeniable beauty.

Afterwards, you will enjoy a guided visit of the fairytale town of Alberobello. Puglia’s picture-perfect town is famous for its conical-roofed dry stone huts, also known as ‘trulli’ and in this UNESCO World Heritage site, you will find more than your fair share of sights at which to marvel. Explore its narrow pedestrianised streets, little shops selling local produce and quaint cafés, boasting the perfect espresso. You will then be treated to a traditional, authentic and truly delicious lunch with a glass of wine, at a local masseria. Puglia is known for its fantastic culinary standards, using fresh produce and of course, that famous olive oil.

Your coach will then return you to your hotel late in the afternoon and you can spend the evening as you wish.

Day6At Your Leisure

Spend another day at your leisure today. It may be the perfect time to get some well-earned relaxation and indulgence in. Enjoy sampling some more delicious Puglian dishes or perhaps some of the regions wine.

If you do feel like exploring more though, the hotel is located about a 2 minute walk from the train station making it very easy. From here you can reach the capital of Puglia, Bari which is a beautiful city that blends its history wonderfully with a certain youth and vibrance and is well worth a visit.

If you are still thirsty for activities, your Topflight representative can talk you through excursions and activities that are available or simply recommend a good local restaurant or bar.

Day7 Lecce & Otranto

This morning, after breakfast, you will set out by coach, to discover the stunningly beautiful baroque city of Lecce, often called the Florence of the South, thanks to its rich cultural and historical features. Here, you will enjoy a guided tour and take in the sights, including the ancient Roman amphitheatre and the Basilica di Santa Croce. You will have free time to explore the area as you wish and perhaps enjoy some lunch.

Afterwards, you will pay a guided visit to Otranto, Lecce’s historic seaside town and port. Take in the sights, such as the majestic castle and the incredible Romanesque cathedral, which dates all the way back to 1088. You will also discover the sea-front promenades, which look out onto a white sandy beach with jewel-coloured waters. In the late afternoon, you will be brought back to your hotel, in time to spend the evening as you wish.

Day8At Your Leisure & Depart for Dublin

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel. You may leave your luggage to be stored in the hotel, to collect later on, as you still have some time to bid farewell to Brindisi and perhaps enjoy lunch and a final Aperol Spritz, before being transferred back to the airport for your evening flight.
