You could spend days blissfully wandering the labyrinthine lanes that wind throughout the medieval town of Lazise. Nestled along the southeastern shore of Lake Garda, this small town, encircled by fortified walls and home to an impressive 14th century castle, is brimming with beauty, character and charm.
It's impossible not to feel a sense of authenticity and old world Italian charm within this intimate town. Although small, this Lake Garda jewel is jam-packed with things to see and do, and it's a true pleasure to explore. With an abundance of both high end shops and quirky boutiques, as well as exceptional restaurants and cosy bars, you need not leave the medieval protection of the town's encircling walls â you could easily stay here all week and want for nothing.
Wander along the lakefront promenade, dotted with wrought iron lampposts and palm tree; watch people go by in one of the many charming piazzas; or stop off at one of the gelaterías for a little treat before heading towards the quaint harbour, – it looks like something straight out of a postcard! – which floats right in the middle of the town.
The food in Lazise is exceptional. Combining the best of the ocean with the best of the surrounding olive groves and vineyards, you can be sure of a lip smackingly delicious meal in nearly every restaurant you happen upon. Topflight recommends paying a visit to La Classique, a superb foodie haunt, perched at an elevated position, thus providing one of the most impressive views of the lake you'll ever see.
During the summer months, the castle, and various areas throughout the town come alive, playing host to a number of superb events including classical music concerts, art exhibitions and fashion shows.
Another string to Lazise's bow is its proximity to numerous outdoor parks. Perhaps you'd like to pay a visit to Parco Natura Viva, a superb zoo, which boast several species of endangered animals. Maybe a park filled with rollercoasters is more your scene? If that's the case, you're in luck; Gardaland lies only 11 minutes' drive away.
Ulf moved to Italy in 2011 and thoroughly enjoys his role as a resort manager in Peschiera. The most rewarding part of the job for Ulf is when people speak to him at the end of their holiday and thank him for helping to make their holiday so special, Ulf says "that means the world to me". Ulf goes on to say it’s the little extras that help people enjoy their holidays such as telling them to drop into "Torta della nonna" for an Italian pastry, it’s a must." His key tip for holidays in Lake Garda is to try and see as many of the towns and villages as possible as each one exudes a unique atmosphere.

She says "although I love all 3 resorts my heart lies in Malcesine. There are many little spots which I love - the views from the restaurants at 'Porto Vecchio' and the quaintness of the little Piazza Cavour. There's a little grassy area called Lido Sopri which is great for sunbathing and a dip in the lake with that view - perfect!"
