A wonderful town, awash with history and unique charm, Conversano is home to many gems including a castle, monastery, Romanesque church and megaltihic walls.
The town's main attraction is its imposing medieval castle, 'Castello di Conversano', which is thought to date as far back as the 6th century, but was rebuilt in the 11th. Inside the castle, you'll find an art gallery and tourist office, so you have the perfect oppurtunity to take it all in.
The Conversano Cathedral is just a few minutes walk from the castle and is a beautiful example of Romanesque-style architecture and not far again, is the Moastero San Benedetto, once one of the most powerful monasteries in Puglia.
On top of the fabulous historic buildings that this town is known for, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy some food, a coffee or perhaps a glass of Pugliese wine.
From Conversano, guests can choose to take a bus to the beautfiul Polignano a Mare with its jewel-toned waters and limestone cliffs, which is just a 15 minute drive away. Or if you'd prefer to discover Puglia's capital, Bari, it can be reached in just over a half hour. It is a beautiful city that blends its history wonderfully with a certain youth a vibrance and it is well worth a visit.
