The spectacular Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps, provides a stunning backdrop to the Chamonix Valley. Known as the 'Ski Capital of the World', Chamonix is one of the most beautiful and challenging destinations for skiers. Its attractive nightlife, exciting sport and leisure activities, extreme slopes and gorgeous scenery attract a high number of visitors every year.
Just over an hour from Geneva, Chamonix Valley has an excellent ski lift and bus system, allowing access to five wonderful ski areas. A whole area lift pass allows entry to a wide selection of slopes with an incredible mixture of ski and snowboard possibilities, whether you are looking for some nice long slopes, forest trails, freeride or off-piste skiing. This is a skiers paradise, particularly for the intermediate and advanced skiers who will find themselves pushed to the next level on Chamonix's black runs.
Chamonix offers an exciting selection of activities and attractions for its guests. It is a great location for off-piste and backcountry skiing with the world famous Valle Blanche, a 20km off-piste route with a tremendous vertical descent of 2700m. Experience stunning views while skiing down this extraordinary piste, or perhaps visit the Aiguille du Midi, the highest accessible point that can be accessed by cable car in the Chamonix Valley. Do the Chamonix Skywalk at Aguille du Midi, a thrilling experience where you get the sensation that you are walking on air above the mountains! Dog sledding, ice climbing, paragliding, ice skating and exploring the impressive glaciers and ice caves are among some of the many attractions to choose from.
The old town centre of Chamonix is charming with narrow, cobbled and pedestrianised streets. You are sure to be impressed by the picturesque town, a dazzling sight in the winter months with the snow covered streets and pretty buildings. The apres-ski in Chamonix is excellent, with a wealth of bars, restaurants, nightclubs and even a casino to choose from.
