Begin your incredible week of exploration on board the Norwegian Spirit. Be prepared to discover a wealth of history, culture and natural beauty as you visit some of the most beautiful and inspirational places that the Eastern Mediterranean has to offer.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day1 Rome, Italy

Today you will fly to Rome and board the Norwegian Spirit to begin your journey accross the Eastern Mediterranean. You will experience many beautiful destinations on this cruise and also enjoy a huge range of facilities for enjoying relaxation, fine dining and fun activities on board your ship.

Day2 Santorini, Greece

This Greek idyll will leave you in awe with its multicoloured cliffs, whitewashed houses and stunning views across the sparkling Mediterranean sea. Once you arrive on terra firma, you’ll have two ways of venturing up to the town of Fira: on the cable cars or on a donkey. Yes, a donkey! Fira, the island’s capital is full of small, winding streets filled with shops, bars and restaurants. 1500bc is a great little spot for something to eat. Sit out on the patio, order a crisp wine, and get stuck into some of the most divine seafood you’ll ever try!

Day3 Athens, Greece

Piraeus is located just ten kilometres away from central Athens, the heart of Ancient Greece. This city provides a whirlwind of fascinating and interesting sites to behold. Dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including wonders like the Acropolis and the Parthenon. This place is a history lover’s dream but it’s not just the history buffs that will be inspired and impressed by this palpable historic grandeur. However, Athens also has a lively urban atmosphere and has a certain youthful energy to it. There are a wealth of wonderful open-air restaurants and bars to allow you to enjoy a relaxing laid back pace that the Athenians adopt.

Day4 Mykonos, Greece

You will get a chance to experience the glamorous resort of Mykonos today. This will give you a true flavour of what the Cyclades islands are really like, with their traditional, whitewashed architecture and maze of narrow streets. There’s plenty to see and do during your day of exploration in Mykonos. You can’t visit without venturing to one of its beautiful beaches. We advise hopping in a taxi and taking the twenty minute trip to the southern – and ultra picturesque – Super Paradise beach.

Day5 Rhodes, Greece

Make sure to get a good vantage point on your ship as the views from the sea as you approach Rhodes, really are spectacular and you certainly don’t want to miss it. Rhodes, itself, is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the world and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, and you have a world of wonderful wonders to explore! Take the pleasant 15-minute stroll to the city’s Old Town, a maze of cobblestone streets, flanked by historic buildings dating from the 14th century.

Day6 Crete, Greece

Weaving a tapestry of awe and wonder, Chania, Crete's port, is a centuries-old mix of Minoan myths, well-preserved Venetian mansions, a mesmerizing Old Town complete with labyrinthine passageways, and atmospheric Kastelli Hill, once the site of a Roman acropolis. But Chania may be best known as the gateway to the breathtaking 4,000 year-old Minoan ruins at Knossos, home of the legendary King Minos and the part man and part bull known creature as the Minotaur. And around every corner of this idyllic area you'll find picturesque villages, breathtaking views and architectural wonders that will remain with you for a lifetime.

Day7 Valletta, Malta

Today will see you arrive in the historic city of Valletta. The city center is located a ten minute walk from the cruise port, and is chock-full of impressive sights and historic landmarks. Feast your eyes upon the City Gate, Parliament Building and Opera House, or take some time to enjoy its beautiful beaches and seaside restaurants.

Day8 Sicily, Italy

As German writer, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe so aptly put it: "To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is not to have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything". From the subtle scent of lemon trees that fills the balmy air and the rich history that envelops the island to the sincere warmth of its natives and the distinctly delicious cuisine, for which Sicily is famous, this enchanting island really needs to be seen to be believed. Although part of Italy, Sicily the largest of the Mediterranean islands, has its own unique and fascinating culture and charm. Separated from the mainland by the Straits of Messina, 3km away, at one time or another it was ruled by the Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans and Spanish, all of whom have left their mark on the island with its unique blend of monuments, traditions and warm hospitality.

Day9 Naples, Italy

Cruise to Naples, located on Italy's stunning Amalfi coast, a city rich in history. There are plenty of things to do in Naples for the adventurous and not so adventurous wanderer. If you feel like staying close, Naples grand piazzas, cathedrals and castles will keep you thoroughly entertained. It is also highly recommended to hop on the train at Napoli Centrale station, and take the 30-minute trip to the historical wonder that is the ancient city of Pompeii! This huge archaeological site, once a sophisticated Roman city, was preserved under ash and pumice after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Visitors can explore and walk the streets just as the romans did.

Day10 Livorno, Italy

Livorno is a one of the most important ports in Italy. Discover its colourful history and seafood that is famed to be the best on the Tyrrhenian coast. While away the hours discovering the historic quarter, laced with extravagant architecture and Venetian style canals. Or take a bus to Florence, just over an hour from Livorno, but well worth it to explore the entire city by foot and discover its mind blowing Renaissance art and architecture. Pisa and Rome are also a short distance by train from this port, so you’ll be spoilt for choice on this part of your exciting journey.

Day11-12 Rome, Italy

You will stay at the Venetia Palace hotel in Rome, for two nights. This is the perfect amount of time to get a real feel for the magical city of Rome.

With two and a half thousand years of history, art and culture, it is no wonder Rome is one of the most visited cities on the planet, so make the most of your time here! Gaze at the masterpieces of the Vatican or walk into the past with visits to ancient relics, historic monuments and legendary museums. Take the Hop on, Hop off bus tour to ensure that you are taking in all that the city has to offer.

Day13 Return Home

Today you will be transferred to the airport and will fly back to Dublin with a wealth of wonderful memories to treasure.
