Fly from Dublin to Barcelona where you will stay for one night in the Silken Ramblas Hotel right in the heart of the vibrant city. The enchanting seaside city of Barcelona is packed full of culture, brimming with exquisite architecture and laden with superb dining spots. Explore La Rambla, Barcelona’s most famous street, lined with shops and restaurants. Visit El Barrio Gótico, aka the Gothic Quarter, one of the oldest and most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. A magical labyrinth of cobblestoned streets, lined with quaint shops, bustling bars and boutique shops, you will find no shortage of things to do in Barcelona.
Board the Norweigan Spirit today to begin your journey to some of the most intoxicating places you'll ever have visited, from Spain to Morocco to Portugal and back again.
Your first stop is Spain’s third largest city, Valencia. Spend the day discovering the wonders of this fantastically innovative place, with its futuristic architecture and thriving cultural, eating and nightlife scenes. Not without its Mediterranean charm however, the city’s old town is a colourful bustling hub with plenty to see and do. Being the birthplace of the classic spanish dish Paella, Valencia has some of the best in the world. Be sure not to leave without trying it for yourself!
You will spend your fourth day at sea cruising from Spain to Morocco. Make use of the many fantastic facilities available to you on board the Norwegian Spirit and spend your day relaxing and treating yourself.
With it’s modern and vibrant atmosphere, Casablanca is loved by those who prefer to experience what the locals do as opposed to just the tourists. There is just as much culture to soak up in the city’s present as there is with its history. With its captivating modern architecture and incredibly varying building styles, there is something new to experience around each unique corner. With a fantastic restaurant culture driven by locals and tourists alike, you can spend your time traversing the city’s waterfront boulevard lined with spectacular eateries, deciding on which to try.
You will spend your sixth day at sea cruising from Morocco to Portugal. This will give you a chance to relax onboard the Norwegian Spirit, explore its great range of amenities and enjoy the wealth of entertainment activities on offer. Why not chill out beside the open-roof Solarium pool or perhaps indulge in a spa treatment?
Day six sees you dock in Funchal, the capital city of Portugal’s Madeira archipelago. With it’s roving hills sprinkled with quaint, terracotta roofed houses overlooking the impressive harbour, as you disembark it is a sight to behold. The Funchal Cathedral, with its combination of both Gothic and Romanesque styles, showcases an amazing carved wooden ceiling, which is not to be missed and the Sáo Tiago Fortress, overlooking the harbour is an impressive part of the city’s history too. Madeira is also famed for and prides itself on it’s wine, so really, it would be rude not to!
Las Palmas offers visitors the best of both worlds with its long stretch of sandy beaches and the lively atmosphere that city life provides. The streets are lined with high end shops and boutiques but if that all sounds too much like hard work, there are a wealth of cafés to sit back and relax in eating delicious tapas and watching the world go by. Las Palmas also has an important historical and cultural heritage which can mainly be seen in the district of Vegueta, which is the oldest quarter of the town. It is charming and atmospheric and is very much worth rambling among the narrow stone streets to have a look.
A relaxing day on the famed beaches of Tenerife might be just what the doctor ordered today but it’s worth not entirely overlooking the capital. It is a fabulous and typical Spanish city with brightly painted buildings lining the street sides. Wander through and discover excellent museums as you go as well as the visually impressive Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, which has become so iconic it was featured on Spanish postage stamps.
Arrecife’s relaxed and laid back attitude will be a welcome break for you on your 9th day of your adventures. The captivating golden sandy beach with it’s inviting calm waters is too enticing to turn down. Relax here or discover the other interesting sights that this small city has to offer, including museums, castles and a beautiful lagoon speckled with small colourfully painted boats.
Day 11 sees you dock at Málaga, the birthplace of Picasso. It is historically and culturally plentiful- the beautiful historic centre has been restored lovingly and oozes charm with it’s Gothic cathedral taking centre stage among narrow and meandering pedestrian streets. However, if it’s amazing beaches and the lively bar scene that Málaga is famed for that you’d like to experience, there’s plenty of that around for you to enjoy aswell.
Spend another day on board the Norwegian Spirit. Take this time relax and reminisce over the sites and experiences you’ve had over the last few days on this wonderful cruise. This is your chance to truly indulge and recharge before you get back to land and back to reality.
Return back to Barcelona, feeling refreshed and inspired by the veritable bucket list of destinations that you have discovered. Topflight will arrange your transfer to the airport and you'll return home to Dublin.
