Lake Orta
They say good things come in small packages and Lake Orta, just 13km long and 2.5km wide, is no exception. Lying to the west of its big sister Lake Maggiore, it is possibly the most romantic of the lakes, full of charm and history.

Isola San Giulio
The island of San Giulio is almost completely taken up by its 12th Century basilica and convent, hence its nickname, the ‘Island of Silence.’ There are no bars or hotels here, but it offers a peaceful stroll along its footpath known as ‘The Way of Silence,’ interjected at intervals with signs such as ‘Listen to the water, the wind, your steps’ and ‘If you can be yourself, you are everything.’
Omegna
The town of Omegna on the northern shore is home to top Italian brands of kitchenware, with bargains to be had at the factory outlet stores of Alessi and Lagostina.
Prices for Lake Orta include direct transfers from Milan Malpensa Airport. Car hire can be arranged. Although there is no full-time representative in this resort, a contact number is provided should specific assistance be required.
