What Liguria Can Offer You

This is just a small flavour of what Liguria has to offer. Topflight can tailormake a holiday to this region to suit your personal needs, so whether you would like an energetic, action-packed holiday, a relaxing break to savour the delights of the wonderful Ligurian gardens, a seaside holiday or your personal choice of resorts and/or activities, let Topflight advise you on where to go and how to make the most of your Ligurian experience.

Charming Ligurian Coast and Seaside
Spend a day sailing from hidden bays to romantic marinas. A boat trip along Cinque Terre is a must, allowing you to stop at any of the five villages en route and discover their hidden charms. Liguria boasts many Blue Flag beaches and among its renowned seaside resorts are Sestri Levante and Santa Margherita Ligure. No visit to the region would be complete without a visit to the town of Portofino, a favourite haunt of the rich and famous, crammed with multi-coloured houses, designer boutiques and a stylish yacht marina.

Sporting Acivities on Land and Sea
Liguria offers the ideal base for nature & outdoor sports lovers, so pack your trekking shoes, golf, cycling, swimming or snorkelling gear! The main walking trail is the Alta Via, 400km stretching from Ventimiglia to Sarzana, and there are lots more (see panel on this page). Cyclists have more than 400 itineraries to choose from including street cycling, mountain biking, cyclo-tourism and downhill cycling. For divers or those wishing to learn the skills of diving, the region boasts 70 diving schools, open 10 months of the year.

A Sea of Gardens Celebrating Nature
Liguria has a rich horticultural heritage with some of the most glorious gardens and regional parks in the world. Choose from the Botanical Gardens of Villa Hanbury in Ventimiglia, Villa Marigola located in Lerici, the parks of Nervi in Genoa, or Cervara on the promontory of Portofino. The region has 26 villas and gardens associated with the theme ‘Un Mare di Giardini’ (a sea of gardens). What they all have in common is an abundance of exquisite plants, flowers and restful landscapes providing the perfect place to relax and get in touch with nature.

A Taste of Ligurian Gastronomy
Liguria has a wide variety of produce to offer – a range of flavours from the fruits of the earth, fresh catch of the sea and delicious baking. A taste experience not to be missed is ‘trofie al pesto,’ a traditional pasta dish. Two important gastronomy festivals are held at Lavagna – The Torta dei Fieschi, a colossal cake and ancient costume parade, while in the little fishing village of Camogli, the ‘Sagra del Pesce’ is a joyous fish festival during which freshly caught fish is cooked outdoors at the port on a giant, specially made frying pan.
