About Madonna di Campiglio
Situated in the beautiful mountain setting of the Brenta Dolomites, Madonna di Campiglio is one of Italy’s most sought after ski resorts. Together with unspoilt scenery and congenial hospitality, this is a top quality, stylish resort which was once the holiday destination of many illustrious personalities including the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph. Madonna di Campiglio offers more than 150km of varied terrain, catering for all skiing abilities. The ski area is opened up by an efficient lift system which connects the village with the nearby resorts of Marilleva and Folgarida. The scenery is amazing, the skiing challenging and the après ski chic yet full of atmosphere. The village itself is traditional in style with a lake which freezes over to become a natural ice rink where skating competitions take place. Resort amenities include chic boutiques, piano bars and lively nightclubs.
Après Ski
Après ski in Madonna di Campiglio is very Italian and quite sophisticated. There are numerous restaurants and pizzerias coupled with chic bars and cafes. Restaurants worth a visit are Belvedere, Le Roi and Stube Diana. Popular bars include the lovely Franz-Joseph Stube, Prince Pub, Bar Suisse and Bar Dolomiti. Des Alpes is a smart club with live music.
Beginner
***The nursery slopes are located at Campo Carlo Magno, reached by regular bus service from Madonna. There are 3 drag lifts here (not covered by the lift pass) and the slopes fall on wide, gentle open spaces. Progression on to the confidence boosting blue runs is swift.
Intermediate
****Intermediates will be delighted with Madonna and surrounding areas. The exhilarating 8 kilometre Groste piste is ideal, as is the sunny Pradalago area, both offer long, wide scenic runs through the trees. Several runs at higher levels return right down into the village.
Advanced
***Madonna is a world cup racing resort and as such offers challenges for all grades of skier. The famous 3-Tre World Cup run starts with a steep descent and gets even more demanding through the final wooded descent to the village. Madonna offers some of Italy’s most exciting skiing in amazing scenery.
Snowboarding
***The world snowboarding championships were held in Madonna in 2001 so facilities for boarders are excellent including a superb half-pipe, boardercross and funpark. There are 30 kilometres of pretty cross-country trails through the woods and plenty of easy runs for beginners and improvers.
