About Portugal
The Algarve has one of the world's finest natural shorelines, rated by many as the best in Europe. Wonderful stretches of golden sand with rocky towers protrude from the sea. The friendly and hospitable people, superb climate and excellent golfing ensure something for everyone in the very popular Portugal.
PLEASE NOTE: Since January 1st 2008, smoking is banned in Portugal in bars, restaurants, hotel rooms, public transportation and other public places.

Currency
The unit of currency is the Euro. Banks are open five days a week from 8.30am to 3pm.
Food
Lunch is usually served between 12pm and 2.30pm. and dinner is between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. There is a good variety of restaurants to suit all kinds of tastes. Most close one day a week, usually at the weekend, although restaurants in shopping centres are open every day.
Drink
Wine is the ubiquitous table beverage
Languages
Portuguese is the native language. English is widely understood.
