About Passo Tonale
Passo Tonale is one of Italy’s highest resorts with good snow conditions and a long season practically guaranteed. Its ski area forms part of the Trentino and Lombardy areas and the majority of lifts serve wide, sunny south-facing slopes, mainly above the tree line. There is also access to the Presena glacier in high season. The resort is favoured by families and learners looking for a value for money holiday with its fair share of challenging skiing. Queuing is almost non-existent in Passo Tonale and the resort is known for its high standards of ski instruction. The excellent skiing, together with an efficient lift system and good value for money, makes it an ideal choice for all levels of skier. There are some good inexpensive restaurants and several lively bars offering après ski activity until the early hours.
Skiing
Queuing is almost non-existent in Passo Tonale and the resort is known for its high standards of ski instruction. The excellent skiing together with an efficent lift system, very little queuing and good value for money makes it an ideal choice for all levels of skier.
An excellent resort for beginners - possibly the best in Italy - with easy slopes located close to the lift system. There are wide sweeping runs for carvers and freeriders. More advanced boarders should consider hiring a guide and heading for the 9 mile Pisgana trail which runs down from the Presena Glacier to Ponte di Legno.
Après Ski
There is a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. For a relaxing drink, head to El Bait - a rustic cellar. For early apres ski try the happy hour at Heaven disco pub. Miramonti disco bar and Antares Irish bar are also favourites. For eating out try the homemade burgers at the UFO bar or the ski burger bar, La Toretta for pizza and El Bait or Focolare for a full meal.
Beginner
****The resort is probably best for beginners and intermediates. Beginners will enjoy the many blue runs and the excellent English speaking ski tuition available. There are 6 beginner lifts at village level and soon skiers progress to the higher slopes to enjoy the long sweeping runs back to the village.
Intermediate
***Passo Tonale is ideal for intermediate cruising on a good choice of red runs. Take the chairlift to Cima Bleis and enjoy the long 4.5km run through spectacular scenery. The convenience and gradient of the majority of ski runs make this resort an ideal choice for intermediates.
Advanced
**Advanced skiers may find the resort a bit limiting but there is a choice of black runs. Recommended is the off piste skiing best enjoyed with a local guide to point out the best powder.
Snowboarding
