The liveliest resort on the island, Playa del Ingles offers sun, sea and sand all the way - and a nightlife that sizzles with excitement! This is the ultimate beach holiday, with a long sandy beach lined with sun loungers, beach bars and watersports a-plenty. If you want to shop for duty free bargains, head for the shopping centres Yumbo and the Kasbah, bursting with shops, bars and restaurants. They’re also the hottest nightspots in town.

Maspalomas is renowned worldwide for its rolling sand dunes, wide, sandy beaches and sparkling seas - ideal for beach lovers and relaxed family holidays. Quieter and more upmarket than neighbouring Playa del Ingles, the leafy resort has plenty of attractions away from the shores including theme parks, a golf course and charming restaurants.

This newly developed five star, purpose built resort is located in a quiet, exclusive area beside Maspalomas. A fantastic new promenade leading from Meloneras to El Faro Shopping Centre is lined with an excellent selection of typical and traditional restaurants, quiet piano bars, cafés and designer boutiques. One of the most romantic spots on the Canary Islands, this is an ideal place to enjoy an evening stroll and watch the sun go down.

Island Tour

Local Information
Currency
The unit of the currency is the euro. Note that the credit cards are not widely accepted as in Ireland, although for all car hire in Gran Canaria a credit card is required. Most banks open from Monday to Friday, 9am - 2pm.
Food
Lunch usually served from 12-14pm and dinner from 6-10pm. There are plenty of restaurants serving traditional Canarian and international cuisine. Expect to pay from €10 for a meal.
Drink
Beer and wine are generally cheaper that in Ireland, with average prices at €2 for a glass of wine, €3 for a large beer and 2.50 for tea, coffee and a measure of spirits.
Languages
Spanish is the official language of Gran Canaria. English is widely spoken and understood.
