For everyone to enjoy a fun-filled, safe skiing or snowboard holiday, there is a certain etiquette on the slopes
Most resorts agree on the following code:
- Don't behave in a manner that would endanger others.
- Control your speed to suit the general conditions of the slope.
- Stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
- People ahead of you furhter downhill have the right of way. It's up to you to avoid them.
- Always allow for other skiers' movement when overtaking.
- Check uphill before enterting or crossing a slope and yield to others.
- Avoid stopping in areas of reduced visibility.
- When walking on a slope, be sure to keep to the sides.
- Pay attention to all warning and information signs and keep off closed trails.
- Give assistance if you are involved in or witness an accident.
- You must identify yourself to piste control if asked.
- Before using a lift, make sure you know how to load, ride and unload properly.Load and Unload from your side of the chair only, don't cross over in front of somebody who's loading or unloading, don't drop anything from the chair lift and don't rock the chair unnecessarily.
- If you are a snowboarder, don't stand in landing areas.
- Before overtaking a snowboarder, judge whether you're entering his or her blind spot and if so, leave extra room in case they turn tpwards you.
