Known to many as the ski capital of the world, Austria is a paradise for skiers and snowboarders alike. A small country covered with majestic, snow-covered alps, this is the birthplace of downhill skiing and offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world to explore on skis. Austrian ski resorts, mostly in the western province of Tirol, are built around age-old villages where the architecture and traditions of the community are an important part of daily life. Enjoy the region’s top-class restaurants and a friendly welcome at every turn. Whether you’re a beginner or an extreme skier, you can choose from a phenomenal variety of runs to help you reach your peak. World famous for its ski schools and instructors, the country offers an exciting winter holiday for everybody. For non-skiers, there’s plenty to do and see. Tobogganing, sleigh rides and walks through snowy alpine trails are widely available.
